A t the age of 13, Nartak began creating mix-tape’s from the music he listened to and recorded via radio, and from this his passion for music was born. A few years later, he discovered the intensity of live music performance, and began to work with several musicians and bands. Nartak’s DJ career began in 1990. It was not long before he became acknowledged by many of his peers as an electronic music specialist.
Nartak’s name is found on advertisements and promotional flyers for clubs and music festivals all over the world. He is well-known within genres, such as: down-tempo, ambient, new classics, lounge, electronic world music as well as deep house & trance music. His natural ability and profound natural knowledge of music as a DJ and compiler have enabled him to understand the required atmosphere and aesthetics of any specific venue that he is presented with, allowing his sets to be respected and appreciated by both his peers and the global audiences for which he has performed. Within the last twenty-four years, Nartak has played at more than one thousand events throughout the world, establishing him as one of the key influences in many of the electronic music genres current today.
With the foundation of Free Form network in January 1996, Nartak progressed his career further when he became both head of A&R and label management. In the following nine year’s, he oversaw four different record labels which included twenty-two artists and bands. From music production, graphic arts, promotion and all other varying aspects of label management, Nartak is acknowledged for his exquisite attention to detail and quality, whilst he is himself cites a key component to his own inspiration “the impulse for a listener to enjoy music to the fullest.” With his support and supervision, artists such as, deep-dive-corp., Raphaël Marionneau, The Havana Boys, Ohm-G, Orbient or Hippiehaus, have all became established international bestsellers.
Since December 2004, Nartak has worked for the biggest private radio station in Germany, which is called, Klassik Radio. His Klassik Lounge Nightflight show is a unique and sensitive array of music, such as: downtempo, chill out, world, nujazz, ambient, and new contemporary classics. Soon the show established as one of the best international radio formats for electronic listening music. So far 6 Double CD compilations got released, underlining Nartak’s reputation as a “master of subtle tones and atmospheres”. DJ Nartak’s Nightflight is the perfect soundtrack for a relaxed evening, or for a “party night take-off”, as Nartak remarks.
In autumn 2012 Klassik Radio extended DJ Nartak’s presence on air. As a part of the famous Klassik Lounge crew, he is now the leading DJ on every Monday to Thursday, broadcasting between 22-00H.
In 2007, Nartak started a new radio and compilation concept called Globality. His musical vision blends an array of ethno music sonically woven into a modern expression based on electronic sounds. In September 2008, Globality by DJ Nartak, started as a program on air at Deluxe Lounge Radio and on Austria’s LoungeFM. At the same time, the first Globality compilation manufactured in an opulent two CD Box set, which was released on Peacelounge Recordings. Between 2009 and 2011 DJ Nartak and his Globality show joined Planet Radio’s early morning breaks.
In 2011 another music format took shape. Inspired by the fascinating work of photographer Marco J. Drews, Nartak developed a concept called Schlaflos… in dedication to the beauty of nocturnal life.
